- Wednesday, December 2, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave. Downtown and on a long list of bus routes.
More branch fairs continue into early 2027, the City says, ending with a City Hall career fair in April.
πΌ Who Will Be at the Tables
The City names three departments: the Department of Employee Relations, which runs City hiring, the Department of Neighborhood Services and the Milwaukee Health Department. City partner organizations join them. Staff will help with applications and offer guidance on the spot.
That help matters. The City only accepts applications through its online employment center, and each posting has its own requirements and deadline. Recent openings on the City's jobs page have included engineering technicians, equipment operators, an industrial machine repair position, police aides, police officers and fire cadets. Postings turn over constantly, so treat that as a sample, not a promise. The City also advertises health insurance and retirement plans for employees; ask the recruiters which benefits apply to the job you want.
β What to Bring
- A few printed copies of your resume
- A photo ID and copies of any licenses or certifications, such as a driver's license or CDL
- Your email address and password, so you can start or finish an online application with staff beside you
The City offers disability accommodations if you request them at least 72 hours ahead through its ADA coordinator at 414-286-3475. Questions about the fairs go to City staffing services at 414-286-3751, and the recorded job hotline is 414-286-5555.
