MILWAUKEE, WI — The fall hiring calendar in Milwaukee runs through places people already go: public library branches on the northwest and south sides, the job center offices on North 27th Street and Chase Avenue and, earlier this fall, MATC classrooms on State Street and in Oak Creek. From late September into early December, anyone looking for work can meet employers in person, most of the time for free, and in some cases fill out an application right there.

Thirty Milwaukee-area job fairs and hiring events between September 22 and December 2, each one checked against the organizer's own calendar, including City of Milwaukee career fairs at four library branches and three MATC fairs that were open to the community. Eighteen have already taken place.

Employ Milwaukee Business Service Job Fair — Tuesday, September 22

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | DWD Conference Room, 6th Floor, 4201 N. 27th St., Milwaukee

This is the first of three Business Service Job Fairs on the Employ Milwaukee calendar. Employ Milwaukee is the county's public workforce board. The building is on the northwest side, just north of Capitol Drive, and the fair is on the sixth floor. Employ Milwaukee hasn't said which employers are coming or who is eligible, so don't assume anything about the roles. Call (414) 270-1700 before you go to confirm the employer list and whether you need to register. Bring several copies of your resume anyway. A two-hour morning fair can end early once the tables get busy.

MATC Manufacturing, Construction & Transportation Career & Internship Fair — Wednesday, September 30

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | MATC Oak Creek Campus, Upper & Lower Atriums, 6665 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek

This event has passed.

This is the fall fair for the manufacturing, construction and transportation side of Milwaukee Area Technical College, so expect employers looking for skilled trades and production workers, plus drivers and technicians. The school built it for its students, but its CareerHub events page says community members are welcome too. That's worth the drive down Howell Avenue if you have shop-floor, welding, maintenance or CDL experience. Some tables will be recruiting interns, so ask up front about full-time openings. MATC recommends bringing copies of a well-written resume and wearing business casual or business professional clothes.

MATC Community, Human Services & Healthcare Career & Internship Fair — Tuesday, October 6

This event has passed.

This downtown fair covers two of MATC's program areas: community and human services, and healthcare. That's where to look for patient care, medical support, social services and case management roles, in a city whose big hospital systems and nonprofits are always hiring. MATC welcomes community members here as well. If you hold a CNA, a medical assistant credential or a human services background, bring proof of it along with your resume. The campus sits a few blocks west of the Deer District, so plan for downtown parking.

MATC Business; Creative Arts, Design & Media; & STEM Career & Internship Fair — Wednesday, October 7

This fair is in the same room as the healthcare fair, one day later, but it's for different careers. It covers business, creative arts, design and media, and STEM. Tradesmen International and Lippert Flooring Hiring Day — Wednesday, October 7

Two employers, the same morning, the same sixth floor, and interviews on the spot. Tradesmen International, a skilled-trades staffing firm, wants carpenters, MIG and TIG welders, painters, electricians, finish and trim carpenters, and HVAC technicians and installers, and it asks for at least two years of documented trade experience and your own hand tools. Lippert Flooring and Tile has the wider door: floor installers, tile setters and floor care crew, 18 or older, with a drug screen and a background check, and experience helpful rather than required. Surge Workforce Solutions Hiring Event — Thursday, October 8

Out I-94 in Waukesha, a staffing agency hiring on site for cherry pickers and stock pickers, assembly, molding and general warehouse work. The state's listing advertises weekly pay, health, dental and vision coverage, and a $400 referral bonus, but no hourly rate, so ask for it at the table. You would be hired by Surge and placed at a client's plant or warehouse, so ask which sites they are filling. Employ Milwaukee takes a job fair downtown and into a hotel ballroom for a morning built around hospitality work: the hotels, restaurants, event venues and food service jobs that staff up along Wisconsin Avenue heading into the holidays. At Your Service Caregiver Hiring Event — Tuesday, October 13

At Your Service, an in-home senior care agency based in Oconomowoc, is hiring non-medical in-home caregivers, part time and full time, at the same Waukesha job center as the Surge and Parallel events. It is one of the few listings this fall with a posted wage: $20 an hour to start, with health, dental, vision and life benefits after 90 days. The bar is specific: at least a year of experience caring for older adults, every other weekend, a valid driver's license with reliable transportation, and a background check. Uline Open Interviews — Tuesday, October 13

Uline recruiters hold drop-in interviews downtown for corporate roles in accounting and finance, marketing, customer service, IT, human resources, eCommerce and supply chain. The catch: every job is on site in Kenosha County, which Uline puts at about a 40-minute drive from Milwaukee, so weigh the commute before you go. Bring a printed resume. Athea is a Milwaukee contract packaging and private-label manufacturer, and the skills it lists are plain: use hand tools, follow verbal and written instructions, complete paperwork and do basic math with a calculator. Recruiters from City departments, including Employee Relations, Neighborhood Services and the Milwaukee Health Department, will be at the tables alongside City partner organizations. Same Waukesha building two weeks later, with a different agency and a longer list: food line packers, machine operators, forklift drivers, warehouse workers, rail cart conductors and general labor. Parallel advertises weekly pay, multiple shifts and temp-to-hire openings, but no hourly rate. Fair Chance Career & Resource Hiring Event — Thursday, October 22

This event has passed.

Employ Milwaukee and Wisconsin Community Services run this as a fair chance hiring event, so it's built for job seekers with a criminal record, though the flyer doesn't limit who can attend. Expect on-the-spot interviews across social services, manufacturing, warehouse, health care, hospitality, retail, construction and child care. Employ Milwaukee asks you to register ahead, bring a resume and dress for success, and the afternoon start works for anyone coming off a morning shift. Macy's Holiday Hiring Day — Thursday, October 22

Macy's national holiday hiring day reaches both metro Milwaukee stores, and anyone can walk in to apply for part-time seasonal store work ahead of the Black Friday rush. Apply online first on macysJOBS to save time at the counter. Macy's hasn't published a headcount for either store or a single pay rate; every posting lists its own range. Super Steel Hiring Event — Monday, October 26

The metal fabricator is recruiting welders, a cobot technician, maintenance technicians, CNC machinists, assemblers and a tool and fixture fabricator, plus a production manager, an inventory control specialist, a quality engineer and a manufacturing engineer. The state's event flyer lists a 5:00 a.m. first shift and a 2:30 p.m. second shift with a $3-an-hour shift premium, but no base wages. Global Power Components Hiring Event — Wednesday, October 28

The longest job list at either job center this fall: welders, electrical assemblers, maintenance and field service technicians, quality and safety technicians, machine operators, painters, finishers, material handlers, warehouse associates, general labor and production supervisors, plus an academy trainee track in electrical and welding for people with aptitude but not the resume yet. The catch: you must be 18 or older, bring ID and a resume, and sit for a basic assessment and a mechanical aptitude test, so arrive close to 10. Milwaukee Job Fair at Embassy Suites Brookfield — Wednesday, October 28

The only stop on this list run by a private event company rather than a school, the city or the workforce board. Catalyst Career Group rents the ballroom and the employers come to it, so expect breadth rather than depth: a run of tables, companies hiring across the metro from entry level through management, and 150 minutes to work the room. It's free for job seekers and the hotel's surface parking is complimentary. Catalyst has named Bars & Recreation, the Department of Corrections, Group CBS, Landmark Credit Union, the Mequon-Thiensville School District, MetalTek International, Nucor Cold Finish Wisconsin, Steinhafels Furniture, Schlossmann Auto Group, Touching Hearts at Home and the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, and says more employers are often added before the day. TJ Maxx Brookfield Hiring Event — Tuesday, November 3

Holiday retail with a short drive between the interview and the job. The TJ Maxx store at 17460 W. Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield is interviewing at the Waukesha job center for a full-time customer experience supervisor, who works 30 to 40 hours with at least two closing shifts a week, plus part-time cashier and salesfloor associates and part-time receiving associates averaging about 20 flexible hours a week. The tour stops on the far northwest side at a midday hour, which suits anyone who works evenings or has school pickup later in the afternoon. The format is the same as every other stop: City departments and partners, applications on the spot, free, with sign-in at the door. It's also Election Day, so plan your day around the polls.

Legacy Bakehouse Hiring Event — Wednesday, November 4

Food manufacturing in the same Chase Avenue room a week after Global Power. Legacy Bakehouse is hiring for its Waukesha and Cudahy locations across three shifts: warehouse associates and a warehouse lead, machine operators, sanitation, maintenance, electromechanical and quality technicians, general laborers and an operations manager. The warehouse associate job needs forklift experience or certification. Seasonal Services is hiring a fertilization applicator, lawn care maintenance and installation technicians, and a landscape foreman, and the job center's listing puts starting pay at $23 to $32 an hour. Prolec GE Waukesha Onsite Job Fair — Saturday, November 7

The transformer maker opens its South Prairie Avenue plant on a Saturday morning to hire electrical product assemblers, core and coil assemblers, winders, test technicians and maintenance technicians, with every listed position starting at $30 an hour. The catch: this one is for experienced hands. Prolec wants manufacturing or skilled trade experience, tool skills and blueprint reading, and every candidate must pass math and measurement assessments. The WOW Workforce Development system brings up to 35 Waukesha County employers into one ballroom just off I-94, sharing the room with the Succeeding After Service veteran community resource fair. It's free and no registration is required. The organizer's list includes GE Vernova, Generac Power Systems, Kohl's, MetalTek International, Roundy's Pick 'n Save and Metro Market, the Target distribution center, Tradesmen International and Home Helpers of Lake Country, and it notes the list can change. The third Business Service Job Fair is back at the North 27th Street building. It lands right as seasonal hiring peaks before the holidays. City of Milwaukee & MPL Career Fair at Tippecanoe — Thursday, November 19

3:00 – 5:00 p.m. | Tippecanoe Branch Library, 3912 S. Howell Ave., Milwaukee

This is the south side stop, on the same Howell Avenue that leads to MATC's Oak Creek campus. It's the easiest City fair to reach for anyone living in Bay View, Tippecanoe or near the airport. It's free, open to the public, and you can apply on-site.

City of Milwaukee & MPL Career Fair at Central Library — Wednesday, December 2

12:00 – 2:00 p.m. | Milwaukee Public Library Central, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee

The last City fair of 2026 is at the Central Library on Wisconsin Avenue downtown, easy to reach by bus from most of the city. Same setup as the others: City departments and partners, on-site applications, free admission. The tour picks back up at the Zablocki branch in January.

  • Warehouse, packing and forklift work: Legacy Bakehouse on November 4 at the Chase Avenue job center, if you have forklift experience.
  • Holiday retail: TJ Maxx Brookfield's hiring event on November 3 at the Waukesha job center. Macy's October 22 hiring day has passed; its last national hiring day is November 19.
  • Landscaping and lawn care: Seasonal Services on November 5 in Waukesha, with posted starting pay of $23 to $32 an hour.
  • Caregivers and senior care: The View Communities on November 10 for assisted living and memory care, or Always Best Care on November 12 for in-home work. Both are at the Waukesha job center.
  • Welding, machining and plant work: Prolec GE in Waukesha on November 7 if you have plant experience and want a $30 starting wage.
  • Veterans and military families: Pewaukee on November 9, where a veteran resource fair with VA benefits help shares the ballroom with the employers.
  • Have a record: the fair chance hiring event at Wisconsin Community Services on November 12, with on-the-spot interviews. Register ahead.
  • Want a City of Milwaukee job with benefits: Any of the three remaining library fairs, at Good Hope, Tippecanoe or Central. Pick the branch closest to home, since the format is the same at each.

Are Milwaukee's fall job fairs free?

The City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Library career fairs are free and open to the public, and so are the job center hiring events on Chase Avenue and the November 9 job fair in Pewaukee. Employ Milwaukee hasn't posted admission prices for its fairs, so ask when you call ahead.

Can I go to an MATC career fair if I'm not a student?

MATC's CareerHub said community members were welcome at its fall fairs. All three fall 2026 MATC fairs have now taken place, so watch the CareerHub events page for the next round.

Can I apply for City of Milwaukee jobs at the library fairs?

Yes. The City says you can apply on-site for available jobs, and you'll also get help setting up job alerts. Sign in at the registration table when you get there.

Which employers will be at the Employ Milwaukee Business Service Job Fairs?
